Skin resurfacing includes a number of cosmetic treatments that can be performed to improve the health and appearance of the skin. Most of these treatments work by removing the surface layer of the skin to allow new skin cells and collagen to form in its place. Resurfacing procedures can decrease wrinkles, fade age spots and other discolorations, and tone and tighten for smooth, feminine skin. Many of our patients at the International Center for Transgender Care opt to complement the results of their gender transition surgeries with skin resurfacing procedures.
Profractional therapy, or fractional resurfacing, is the most effective form of skin resurfacing available today. This treatment can reduce the appearance of wrinkles, scars, and acne marks, tighten the skin, and improve its overall appearance. Profractional uses a tiny laser to target thousands of pinpoint areas on the skin, allowing the surrounding untreated tissue to help promote rapid healing. Over the next several months the skin’s natural wound healing response creates new collagen, adding firmness and resilience to the skin.
Profractional therapy can be completed in less than one hour, and the skin will be numbed prior to treatment to prevent pain. For best results, most patients require 1-4 treatments spaced 4-8 weeks apart.
Micro Laser Peel
Micro laser peel utilizes a laser to remove the top layer of skin, smoothing its surface, blending irregular pigmentation, and improving the skin’s tone and texture. This treatment is also perfect for fading acne scars. Micro laser peel results in very little downtime, with minimal redness and swelling. Depending on how deep the treatment was, the healing process can be completed in as little as five days. Patients will begin to see improvement immediately after micro laser peel, with continual improvement over the following six months due to the stimulation of collagen growth in the deepest layers of the skin.
Fotofacial is a quick resurfacing procedure that can be used to treat pigmentation irregularities like age spots, mild acne scarring, and blotchy skin, as well as crow’s feet and wrinkles around the mouth. This procedure can also improve the overall texture of the skin.
Fotofacial is performed using a laser device that can penetrate to the skin’s deepest layers with light pulses. This technique removes damaged skin and encourages the growth of new collagen and healthy skin cells. Fotofacial is also customizable to achieve the ideal level of skin penetration for each patient.
Halo is an ideal treatment for patients who struggle with hyperpigmentation caused by sun damage. This innovative procedure combines excellent results with minimal downtime and a fast recovery. Halo restores the skin’s youthful, luminous glow.
